Impeach. Convict. Remove.

Recap of this week in the revolution: Good's family sues government. Trump ignores AI safety concerns and spends taxpayer money on propaganda. Trump regime refuses to spend congressionally-appropriated funds. Donny 2-Dolls lowers fuel economy standards.

The good...

Renee Good's family sues government and immigration officials [Link]

Renee Good's family is suing the U.S. government, her murderer Jonathan Ross, and other government agents for unjustified and excessive use of force. On January 7 of this year, Ross shot Good multiple times in front of a crowd of witnesses as she was driving away from him.

Good was murdered by an agent of the United States government and instead of launching an investigation into the incident, the government attempted to hide evidence, lie to the public, and blame Good for her own murder. Now, her family is seeking accountability from the government for her death.

The bad...

AI companies sound alarm on AI safety, Trump responds by suggesting voluntary self-regulation instead of government regulation [Link]

The top AI companies have recently been sounding the alarm about the potential dangers of unregulated AI development, with some claiming that there is a real chance that AI will lead to the extinction of humanity. The Trump regime, however, has refused to allow the government to regulate the industry to slow down development and increase public safety.

Instead, Trump says he signed an agreement with tech leaders allowing them to voluntarily self-regulate their own industry. In fact, Trump has repeatedly brushed off concerns about the inherent dangers of unregulated AI development, calling such fears "hoaxes" and "scams."

The AI development race is in full swing, with tech companies racing ahead at breakneck speed to try to get their latest products to market before their competitors. We've already seen multiple instances of AI agents engaging in criminal activities without the knowledge, let alone control, of the company developing these agents. This is not an industry that can be safely controlled via voluntary self-regulation. I can't think of any industries that I would trust to just regulate themselves without any outside oversight.

Trump regime spends taxpayer money on partisan campaign ads [Link]
Scene from the movie '1984'

Propaganda scene from the movie '1984' based on the book of the same name by George Orwell.

The Trump regime is spending millions of dollars of taxpayers' money on pro-Trump advertisement campaigns. The regime is falsely claiming these propaganda messages are "public service announcements" to attempt to justify the use of public funds for partisan purposes.

Federal law prohibits congressionally-appropriated funds from being used for "publicity or propaganda" or partisan politics.

You watch all three ads, they're sheer propaganda.

This is increasingly looking like what authoritarian governments do to promote their leaders.

Unfortunately, Richard is wrong. This does not look like what authoritarian governments do to promote their leaders. It's what the current authoritarian government is doing to promote its leader.

The ugly...

The Trump regime continues to trample on Constitutional boundaries between branches of government [Link]
School House Rock video about government branches

School House Rock video explaining the separate but equal functions of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the United States government.

The Constitution of the United States of America is abundantly clear: Congress has the power to determine how the government spends its money. No other branch has this authority. But the Trump regime has operated since the beginning as if the president is a king who has the sole right and authority to run the government any way he chooses. In the most recent violation of its constitutional authority, Donny 2-Dolls is attempting to cut nearly $1 billion of funding for immigrant services and diversity initiatives.

This funding has already been approved by Congress, and only Congress can decide not to spend the money on the programs it was allocated to. This is nothing but a blatant attempt by the regime to undermine the authority of Congress.

These are funds Congress has delivered on a bipartisan basis and should be helping people—not cut off by a president more focused on building a ballroom than investing in families.

While Trump spends tax dollars on ads promoting himself, Congress needs to reassert its powers to help people, and it's past time Republicans join us in that fight.

The stupid...

Trump regime wants to lower fuel economy standards [Link]

The Trump regime recently lowered fuel economy standards for automakers, allowing them to build cars and light trucks burn more gas than previous regulations allowed. This is the latest attack Donny 2-Dolls has launched against any policies that encourage green energy or pollution-limiting initiatives.

Under the previous regulations, automakers were expected to have an average efficiency of 50.4 miles per gallon across all vehicles they produce by 2031. The Trump regime has dropped this to 30.1 miles per gallon. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy said that the previous regulations "forced automakers to produce...vehicles that American families didn't want."

Do you know any families that don't want their cars or trucks to use less gas per mile, especially as gas prices continue to climb worldwide? Neither do I.
