The good...
As the mid-tern elections approach, the plummeting popularity of Donny 2-Dolls is becoming a liability for Republican candidates in many states. Republicans are desperate to hold on to their majority in Congress, but that majority is already thin, and the unpopularity of the current regime is making it more and more likely that they will lose that thin majority this year.
In many states, Republican candidates are trying hard to distance themselves from the president by emphasizing their disagreements with some of the regime's top priorities. That is a direct contrast to the 2024 elections where Republicans stood the best chance of being elected (or re-elected) by showing unwavering support for Donny 2-Dolls on every issue.
But flipping the House and Senate is far from certain. Republicans have spent the past year trying to redraw congressional district maps in several states to increase the number of Republican-leaning districts and have a massive budget to spend on advertising, propaganda, and promoting their lies. And while Trump's base is not sure that they want to continue supporting their mad king, many of them would rather vote for the most morally depraved Republican candidate before they would ever consider voting for a Democrat.

Last week, Donny 2-Dolls banned three news organizations from the White House press pool because he didn't like the way they reported on him. This move was clearly unconstitutional, as the freedom of the press is one of the foundational freedoms this nation was founded on.
In a rare act of solidarity, the other four news organizations in the White House video pool refused to cover the president while the ban was in effect. This week, a U.S. district judge ordered the White House to "immediately return, reinstate, and restore" access to the three banned news outlets.
The bad...

Donny 2-Dolls treats China as Public Enemy #1 whenever he speaks in public. In addition, he's actively trying to start a trade war with China with his ill-conceived tariffs. But this week, Chinese President Xi Jinping was in the United States for a state visit, and 2-Dolls received him like a prom date. Trump met Xi as he stepped out of his plane and from that point on, did everything he could to try to impress the foreign leader.
Trump treated Xi to an elaborate show in the form of a military review in which—for some reason—American service members dressed in Revolutionary War-era British red coats. After the show, Trump tried to impress Xi by giving him a tour of the White House, showing off the helipad he installed on the White House south lawn, the Marine One helicopter, and the ballroom construction site. Trump then treated his date to a fancy dinner with some of the richest people in the United States.
The meeting appears to have had no political substance to it. It was just the American dictator fawning over the Chinese dictator at the expense of the American taxpayers.

The Trump regime recently terminated a $7 billion program named "Solar for All" that aimed at making solar power accessible to hundreds of thousands of lower-income Americans. The program awarded grants to states, tribes, and regions to invest in rooftop solar and community solar gardens in an attempt to introduce clean power into the electrical grid and lower the cost of electricity.
The program was administered by the EPA and was authorized and funded by Congress. The EPA terminated the program without any authority and against the will of Congress, which is illegal.
This is just one of many programs aimed at lowering greenhouse gasses that has been canceled by the Trump regime in its fight against clean energy, lower costs for consumers, and the creation of high-quality union jobs—which are exactly the things the American people want the most right now.

Donny 2-Dolls wants to build a 25-story "triumphal arch" in Washington, D.C., for some unknown reason. The arch is intended to be the tallest triumphal arch in the world and will be a gaudy monstrosity made of marble and topped with golden statues of eagles and a golden copy of the statue of liberty (with wings added for some reason).
No one wants the arch to be built, so Trump is desperately trying to find some justification for building this monument to greed at an undisclosed cost to the American taxpayer. Now he says he will turn the arch into a military compound full of arms and ammunition, and capable of launching drones. The arch will also contain sniper towers where American soldiers will have a clear view to fire upon American citizens living in, working in, or visiting their nation's capital.

ICE agents continue to terrorize our communities, snatching people off the streets whether they are illegal immigrants, legal migrants, or American citizens, and carting them off to concentration camps, often without any legal justification for doing so. If these detainees are fortunate enough to have someone to help them, they may be able to challenge the legality of their detention by filing a habeas corpus case, which can take months to complete while the detainee remains imprisoned.
The latest tactic ICE has started using to hide their criminal activity is to stop revealing the location of thousands of detainees, making it more difficult for lawyers and relatives to find them.
To me, it's just another iteration of disappearing people.
Why would we do that in the United States of America? It's something we'd hear about in another country and be concerned about individual rights and due process.

The Supreme Court issued an emergency ruling that allows the Trump regime to use a highly controversial database that is known to be full of bad data to remove voter registration for anyone alleged to be a non-citizen.
The Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database that will be used to "verify" citizenship status of registered voters has a long and well-documented history of producing false positives. If this data is used to automatically remove voter registrations, it will de-register legal voters. The system will run automatically, meaning voters will not be given notice that their voter registration has been removed, which will prevent them from voting in future elections.
The change will not impact the current mid-term election cycle, as federal law prohibits the government from automatically updating voter registration within 90 days of an election. But this will certainly have an impact on the 2028 presidential election.
The Supreme Court ruling reverses a lower court ruling to block the Trump regime from using the SAVE database filed in June. The judge in that case had this to say:
The federal government has knowingly trampled on the privacy rights of American citizens in a manner that threatens the sacred right to vote.
This Court cannot stand idly by while that happens.

What can you do this week?
It is more important than ever to verify your voter registration before voting this year. With the Trump regime openly plotting to disenfranchise voters, there's no guarantee that your previous voter registration is still valid. You don't want to find out on election day that you're not eligible to vote.
The latest No Kings national day of action is scheduled for October 17, 2026, and this year the plan is to encourage as many Americans as possible to vote on that day, or at least before election day. Voting early ensures that your voice is heard and gives you time to correct any issues if they do show up. In addition, it's harder for totalitarian regimes to manipulate the outcome of an election when the voter turnout is high and the polls are opened for a longer period.
