The good...

Protests expand, closing schools and businesses to oppose Trump regime [Link]

Nationwide protests erupt over the brutal slayings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by ICE agents in Minneapolis as violence against civilians continues to escalate. On Friday, Americans around the country took to the streets again to protest the Trump regime's fascist takeover of this country. Schools and businesses in several states have closed in a grass-roots general strike intended to shut down the economy.

These protests have been organized primarily in response to ICE violence in Minnesota, but across the country, dissatisfaction with the Trump regime's policies continues to grow. Another "No Kings" protest is planned for Saturday, March 28. The last "No Kings" protest was the largest single day of protest in the history of the United States, and it is expected that the protest on March 28 will be even larger.

For many people, these protests feel like they are not working as the Trump regime continues to abuse its power and further demolish our democratic institutions and deny us our constitutional rights. But it's vitally important that we keep up the momentum and continue to organize and let the world know that we do not accept the current state of affairs. This is not the United States of America that any of us want to live in. So we must stay the course. Stay angry, stay loud, and make your voice heard at every opportunity. We're all afraid, we're all tired, and we're all feeling a bit hopeless. And that's exactly what the regime wants. They want to wear us down, to make us feel like nothing will ever change. They want us to accept what they are doing as the new normal. No matter what happens, we can never allow our opposition to be silenced. Find a protest, find a group, take a stand, and let the world know that you stand for liberty and justice for all.

Trump regime arrests journalists to intimidate the free press [Link]

The Trump regime has arrested four independent journalists after they covered an anti-ICE protest in Minnesota: Don Lemon, Trahern Jeen Crews, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lydell Lundy. These arrests were made despite the fact that multiple judges refused to approve the baseless arrest warrants. These reporters were exercising their right to report on matters of public interest, which is a fundamental pillar of a free press. The arrests are a clear indication that the Trump regime is attempting to intimidate and silence journalists who are doing their jobs.

Civil rights activists are outraged by this blatant attempt to silence the press. Reverend Al Sharpton accused the Trump regime of taking a "sledge hammer [to] the knees of the First Amendment." Lemon and Fort are both independent journalists, Crews is the co-founder of Black Lives Matter Minnesota and former candidate for mayor and state representative, and Lundy is a candidate for Minnesota Senate District 65.

The journalists were covering a peaceful protest at Cities Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Demonstrators disrupted a church service earlier this month because one of the staff members is a field office director for ICE. Protesters were there to point out the hypocrisy of a church that claims to follow the teachings of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, while openly supporting the ever-increasing violence of ICE in particular and the Trump regime in general.

As journalists, our first obligation is to bear witness and to inform. When those obligations are met with detention or prosecution instead of protection, we must ask: 'What message are we sending about who gets to report and who gets silenced?'

The ugly...

Feds raid GA election office and seize 2020 voter records [Link]

FBI agents carted off pallets of official 2020 voter records from Fulton County, Georgia. The seizure was ordered by the Trump regime based on Donny 2-Dolls' repeatedly-disproven claims that he won the 2020 presidential election. Fulton County officials have expressed deep concern about the FBI's seizure. The records are the original voter records from the election that have been protected by Fulton County since 2020. Now that they have been seized by agents of the federal government, there is no longer a public chain of custody. Nobody knows where the records are being taken or who is protecting them. Now that the chain of custody has been broken, any "conclusions" that can be drawn from these ballots is unreliable at best because there is no way to prove that these records have not been tampered with.

The results of the 2020 election have been held up repeatedly throughout multiple investigations, and there is absolutely no sign of any wrongdoing—with one exception: Donny 2-Dolls called election officials in Fulton County after he lost the election and asked them to "find" him enough votes to overturn the results of the election and threatened to press charges against Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger if he refused to comply.

The simple fact is that Trump lost the 2020 election fair and square. And even if he feels like he should have won, it's completely irrelevant because he is currently the President of the United States of America. So even if his outrageous lies could be shown to be true, it would not do or change anything in the world—he'd still be the president. So what's the point?

The point is that the Trump regime is setting the stage to either rig, undermine, or eliminate the 2026 mid-term elections. The first year of his second term in office has been an unmitigated disaster from the very beginning. His approval ratings are abysmal, his own base is starting to question his actions, his mental health is rapidly deteriorating, and he is afraid. There is little doubt that if the Republicans lose their majority in Congress, Trump will be impeached and there is actually a slim chance he will be removed from office. He's doing everything he can to prevent that from happening.

What does this have to do with Fulton? Now that the Trump regime has captured the voter records from 2020, they will alter the results, claim that the election was, indeed, rigged or stolen, and then claim that the fraud was perpetrated through mail-in ballots. He will then try to prevent states from allowing mail-in ballots in the 2026 elections. This will make it harder for many voters to cast their vote, and history seems to indicate that elections with lower voter turnouts tend to favor the Republican Party.

Another government shutdown [Link]
U.S. House of Representatives

United States House of Representatives

Just 11 weeks after the end of the last government shutdown, the US government is once again shut down. This shutdown is technically only a partial shutdown because Senators approved a funding bill to approve funding for most government departments through September, but only provides 2 weeks of funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which provides funding for ICE. The Senate bill still has to be approved by the House of Representatives, which was not in session last week and is likely to vote on the bill early next week.

The bill approves continued funding for DHS for 2 weeks to give Congress a chance to come to an agreement on future funding for ICE. Despite the public demands to abolish ICE completely, Democrats are only asking for promises of new rules and the requirement of oversight and judicial warrants for ICE activities. They want ICE agents to operate without masks, wear and use body cameras, and wear visible identification.

This shutdown does not affect food assistance programs or the VA, which have already been funded through the end of the fiscal year in September.
